Trailwalk : July in the Boreal Forest

Trialwalk is one of the products of the 2012 STEAM Institute, a professional development course made possible by partnerships with UAF researchers, Alaska Boreal House, K-12 teachers, and local artists. As the STEAM Institute is a place-based learning project, the campus trails served as the classroom. Participants in the course used intense observation skills to create unique renderings of their chosen plant, along with advanced research techniques to find information as a university researcher would.

By the end of the Institute, participants had beautiful plants and expertly written short essays focused on their plant. These were all bound together and printed in the publication Trailwalk.
